About ManLeigh's

work in the Comminity

Serving men in Leigh and the surrounding area since 2022

At ManLeigh, community engagement is at the heart of our mission. For every man who reaches out, there are thousands more who remain isolated, struggling alone at home without the strength or support to seek help. Through referrals from community link workers, GPs, mental health hospitals, A&E, and close family members and friends, we connect with men in need. Many of the individuals we work with also face other challenges, such as autism, anxiety, cancer, Parkinson’s, addiction, or workplace injuries, making it difficult or even impossible for them to join typical support groups.

ManLeigh’s approach is never just a “tick-box exercise.” We work with each man as long as he’s willing—whether it takes months, years, or just a few one-on-one sessions. Sometimes, men simply need a place to talk openly and shed a few tears without judgment. After a few sessions, they often leave with a clearer mind, having unburdened themselves, knowing they can always return or reach out when they need us.

Our commitment goes beyond simple meetings; we are ready to do what it takes, from attending appointments and filling out forms to taking walks, going on bike rides, or meeting for a coffee. Occasionally, we even make crucial interventions, like calling an ambulance when someone’s well-being is at risk. On several occasions, our timely visits have prevented serious consequences for men suffering behind closed doors.

The journey is guided by each individual’s goals—whether it’s eventually joining a group or simply regaining the confidence to face the world. Our one-on-one sessions create a space for open conversation, forming genuine connections that allow difficult questions to be asked and answered. We act as mentors, helping these men find their own solutions. While we offer guidance and encourage them to make progress, we respect that real change requires their effort—often 70% of it—on their own terms.

In essence, ManLeigh’s community work is about being there, as supportive passengers on each man’s unique journey, for as long as they need us.
