    Frequently asked questions

    When do you meet?

ManLeigh meets at four venues across Leigh and the surrounding borough on a weekly basis.

How do I get to the meetings?

If you can drive, you’ll find excellent parking available. Additionally, the venues are easily accessible via public transportation and are centrally located, making them convenient to reach on foot if you’re local.

    Are the sessions free?

Yes, all our sessions are completely free.

Are your volunteers trained and professional?

Absolutely. All our volunteers are professionally trained, have undergone DBS checks, and have been promoted from within ManLeigh, ensuring they bring valuable personal experience to the group.

Do I have to be sober or clean?

At ManLeigh, we work regularly with individuals facing addiction challenges, and we understand the complexities of alcohol and substance abuse. We recognize that, in some cases, a moderate amount of alcohol may be part of your rehabilitation process. However, excessive intoxication or discussions that promote harmful substance use are not tolerated.

    Is attendance anonymous?

Yes, your attendance remains anonymous unless you choose to share your participation.

    Do you run events?

Yes, we organise a variety of events, including visits to museums and art galleries, quizzes, running, archery, golf, and even parachuting.

    Can women attend?

While our core group is men-only, we do have female volunteers. Additionally, we offer a separate group called WomanLeigh exclusively for women.

Will anyone know I have attended?

Only if you choose to disclose your attendance. Although there is a small chance you might encounter someone you know—such as an old school friend—most members have not met one another before.

Is there anything we can’t talk about?

We do not have a set agenda and encourage free, open speech. That said, we ask all participants to show respect, understanding, and maintain an open mind to foster a positive and constructive environment.

Do you keep an attendance record?

Yes, we maintain an attendance record for two main reasons:

    1. For safety purposes (e.g., in case of an emergency or fire).

    2. Occasionally, to provide our sponsors with a general overview of group attendance, though this is extremely rare.

    What is the age limit?

Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you are welcome to bring a carer, family member, or friend (male or female) along.

Can I leave the session if I wish?

Each session typically lasts about two hours, but you are free to arrive or leave at any time during the session.
